Widerstandsnest Fliquet was built around a tower dating from 1790, known as the Telegraph Tower. When this tower fell into German hands it became very important. Not just because of its defending capabilities but it had an intact telephone line towards the town of Pirou on the French mainland. This connection was of the most importance to send and receive news and information. The telephone line stayed in service until late August 1944, when the line was cut by American Forces after the Allied Invasion of Normandy.

The Widerstandsnest was armed with a French 10,5 cm Kanone 331 (f), two machineguns, a 5,2 cm mortar of Russian origin, a flare gun and a 40 cm searchlight. Remains of the Widerstandsnest can be seen around the tower structure. The FA understand was opened at our visit in 2022.

Visit
Park the car near the tower at the car park next to it. Enjoy the beach and the bay while you are here. We walked from Widerstandsnest Mole Verclut and saw the Anti-tank obstacles on the way. They are at a pedestrian walkway not suitable for wheelchairs.
