Resistance point South Hill Oben
On top of South Hill above St. Heliers harbor was a small German gun position with two French artillery pieces. These guns fell into German hands by the thousands after the invasion of Poland and French in 1939/1940. The original name was 75 mm Model 1897 but the Germans designated them 7,5 cm FK 231 (f). They had an effective reach of 8.500 meters depending on the type of ammunition.
Two guns were positioned on top of Fort Regent on the most southern tip, looking out over the St Helier harbor and the Saint Aubin Bay on the right and Havre des Pas beach with its reef on the left. Two machinegun bunkers completed this Widerstandsnest. One still has the 10 cm thick 7P7 armored plate on top.
Nearby is the M9 feuerleitung or fire control and observation bunker and it is right on top of the Hohlgangsanlage 19 – Ho19.
