As part of the Atlantikwall, the purpose of Widerstandsnest (Wn) Mo 13 was to defend the coast of the municipal of Pleuneur-Bodou, which stretched from the Bringuiller area in the North to the Île Grande further South. It is a beautiful, but difficult coastline to defend (or attack) as it is comprised of tidal flats as far as the eye can see, together with many small islands and rock formations scattered across the ever changing mix of sand and seawater.

During World War Two the German Forces chose to divide the Widerstandsnest for Pleumeur-Bodou into three area’s;
At Landrellec Bringuiller
1 Casemate type 669 for 7.5 cm field gun
At Crec’h Meur
4 pieces of 88 mm Flak 36,
3 pieces of 20 mm Flak 30
At Île Grande
1 casemate type 612
1 emplacement for 47 mm PaK
2 shelters, including one with a Tobruk
On Losquet Island, the Germans constructed a fake airfield.
Type 669 bunker at Bringuiller

The bunker at Landrellec Bringuiller is a Schartenstand Type 669 für Feldgeschutze (60°) ohne Nebenraume or in English: 60° Embrasured bunker emplacement for field gun without crew room. In this case the bunker was armed with a 7.5 cm PaK field gun. With its 7.5 cm field gun it controlled the beach to the Landrellec beach to the South.

The inside of the bunker has been damaged, the wall of the left ammunition chamber is partly missing and the impacts of shrapnel is clearly visible. The entrance for the field gun originally fitted with armoured doors has been bricked up and replaced by two personnel doors, of which one was also sealed later on. It is unclear if this modification was done during the war.

Visit
Park at the Lande de Bringwiller parking and take the walking trail that starts from the left side of the parking which leads you straight to the bunker or follow the coastline from the North for the scenic route. The bunker has been swallowed by overgrowth and it takes some effort to reach it.
