Fortified Sector of the Crusnes

The Fortified Sector of the Crusnes was a major defensive section of the Maginot Line in northeastern France, near Luxembourg and Belgium. Constructed in the early 1930s, it protected the vital Briey industrial basin. The sector contained powerful underground forts, including Ouvrage Latiremont and Ouvrage Bréhain, equipped with artillery turrets and barracks. In 1940, German forces bypassed the line through the Ardennes, and the sector surrendered after France’s armistice.
