Hermann Göring was a senior Nazi official and one of Adolf Hitler’s closest associates during World War II. He held numerous positions, including Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe (German Air Force), President of the Reichstag, and Reichsmarschall, the highest rank in the German military. Göring played a central role in the militarization of Germany and the implementation of Nazi policies, including the Four Year Plan and early stages of the Holocaust. Captured by Allied forces in 1945, he was tried at the Nuremberg Trials, sentenced to death, and committed suicide by poison in 1946.
