Richard Winters was an American officer in World War II, best known for his leadership of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Winters played a key role in several major campaigns, including the Normandy Invasion, the Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. He was praised for his calm leadership, tactical skill, and ability to motivate his men under extreme conditions. After the war, Winters wrote a memoir, and his story was immortalized in the book and HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. He retired as a lieutenant colonel.
