The Wannsee Conference was a meeting held on January 20, 1942, in a villa in Wannsee, near Berlin, where senior Nazi officials and SS leaders gathered to discuss and coordinate the implementation of the Final Solution. Chaired by Reinhard Heydrich, the conference formalized plans for the systematic extermination of the Jewish population in Europe. The meeting marked the transition from policies of forced emigration to mass murder through extermination camps and gas chambers. The conference played a critical role in the Holocaust, which led to the deaths of approximately six million Jews.
