The Atomic Bomb Memorial Burial Mound, located within Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, serves as a solemn reminder of the immense loss caused by the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. In the aftermath of the explosion, tens of thousands of bodies could not be identified due to the intense heat and destruction. To honor these victims with dignity, their ashes—believed to be over 70,000—were collected and laid to rest beneath this tranquil grassy mound. The memorial provides a sacred space for prayer, remembrance, and reflection, offering comfort to families and visitors.
