Bergepanzerwagen V with German designation Sd.Kfz. 179 was an armored recovery vehicle based on the Panzerkampfwagen V – Panther. Often referred to as Bergepanther. The Bergepanther on the photos is a G version with a 2cm KWK 30 auto cannon and machine gun. It had a crew of 5, 2 crew members operated the vehicle, the other 3 were the recovery team. It had a crane boom with 1,5 ton lift capacity. A winch with 40 ton pull capacity which could recover the heavy Tiger I tank without problems.
