The Children’s Peace Monument in Hiroshima was built to honor the memory of all the children who died as a result of the atomic bombing in 1945. It was inspired by Sadako Sasaki, a young girl who developed leukemia and folded paper cranes hoping for recovery and peace. The monument features Sadako holding a golden crane above her head, symbolizing hope and peace. Surrounded by thousands of colorful paper cranes sent from around the world, it stands as a powerful call for global harmony and nuclear disarmament.
