The National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, located within Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, was established in 2002 to honor all those who lost their lives in the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. Designed by architect Kenzo Tange, the hall serves as both a place of mourning and a center for reflection and learning. Its circular, underground design symbolizes the quiet, eternal rest of the victims and the hope for peace.

Inside, visitors can view the Victims’ Names Database, containing the names and photos of those who perished, and the Hall of Remembrance, where a 360-degree panorama recreates Hiroshima’s ruins after the bombing. Water gently flows throughout the hall, representing prayers for the victims’ souls and peace for all humanity. The memorial encourages visitors to reflect on the human cost of nuclear war and to renew their commitment to building a peaceful, nuclear-free world.
