The Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) was the German expeditionary force deployed to North Africa in 1941 to support struggling Italian forces. Commanded by General Erwin Rommel, it became renowned for its effective desert warfare tactics, earning Rommel the nickname “Desert Fox.” The DAK fought in major engagements, including the Siege of Tobruk, Battle of Gazala, and El Alamein. The Afrikakorps became known for its tactical mobility and desert warfare expertise.
