The Ludendorff Bridge was a vital railway and road bridge spanning the Rhine River in Remagen, Germany. Captured intact by the U.S. 9th Armored Division on March 7, 1945, it provided the Allies with a crucial crossing into the heart of Germany during the final stages of World War II. The bridge allowed rapid movement of troops and supplies, accelerating the Allied advance. German forces attempted to destroy it but were unsuccessful before it collapsed on March 17, 1945. Its capture was a significant moment in the Allied push into Germany.
