Fortified position of Liège or the Position Fortifiée de Liège I (PFL I) in French are a circle of fortresses around the city of Liege in Belgium to defend it from an enemy assault in the region. The saw action during Fall Gelb, the German Case Yellow, the invasion of the Lower Countries (Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.) The German Fall Gelb in May 1940 was part of Fall Rot, case red, the Battle of France and lured the Allied forces away from the French border.
