The U.S. Third Army, commanded by General George S. Patton, played a pivotal role in the European Theater of World War II. Activated in August 1944, it advanced rapidly through France, contributing to the Liberation of Paris. The Third Army also participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the invasion of Germany, pushing through the Rhineland and into Czechoslovakia. Patton’s leadership and aggressive tactics were instrumental in the Allied victory.
