The ZiS-3 is a 76 mm Divisional Gun, model 1942 or M1942. The factory “Artillery Factory No. 92″ was named after Joseph Stalin; Zavod imeni Stalina – or ZiS. It was a field gun with great accuracy for both artillery targets and the ZiS-3 had very good antitank capabilities. It could knock out most German tanks during the early war years.
One of the most produced field guns during the war was this Soviet 76 mm ZiS-3 with over 103,000 guns produced. The ZiS-3 could be used in direct fire against armored vehicles, direct fire in infantry support, and indirect fire against distant targets.
