At Fort d’Aubin-Neufchâteau – Dalhem in Belgium, there is a small but interesting museum and canteen. The museum highlights the layout of the fort and the various defensive weapons that were installed at the time. Personnel and uniforms are featured. Information is shared about Commander Oscar D’Ardenne and personal stories of the soldiers stationed here during the Second World War. Naturally, the battles at the beginning of the war in May 1940 during Fall Gelb are featured in the museum and the display cases. Attention is paid to the test weapons, the Röchlin grenade, and other explosives that were tested here.

It is recommended to walk through the museum first to gain more background information about the fort before joining the tour. You can visit the museum at your own pace and on your own.

Visit
The museum and fort are open on the specified days, which can be found on the fort’s website. The fort is not open every day. Parking is free and available close to the museum and the canteen. The fort is not wheelchair accessible and, due to the high stairs, can be challenging for people with mobility issues.
In addition to refreshments, the canteen offers the opportunity to use the toilet and to quietly rest your legs after the tour.
