The Alpine Line was a series of fortifications built by France along the Italian border during World War II. Designed to defend against Italian and later German advances, it included bunkers, tunnels, and artillery positions. The line was largely ineffective during the German invasion in 1940, falling quickly. Also referred to as Little Maginot Line.
