First Battle of the Alps

The First Battle of the Alps took place in 1940 during World War II, between Italian and French forces in the Alps, following Italy’s declaration of war on France. The Italian Army attempted to invade southern France through the mountainous region but faced strong French resistance. Despite initial Italian advances, the battle ended inconclusively, with Italy unable to achieve significant territorial gains before France’s armistice with Germany.
