During World War II, Germany developed sophisticated radar systems to enhance air defense and targeting capabilities. Key models included the Freya early-warning radar and the Würzburg tracking radar, used to detect and guide anti-aircraft guns or night fighters against Allied bombers. Though initially effective, German radar was increasingly jammed and deceived by advancing Allied electronic countermeasures.
