The Wall
Along St Ouen’s Bay the Germans built a Anti-Tank wall four to five meters high. The few entrances from the beach inland were heavily defended.
The Germans placed defensive positions on both ends of the bay from Stützpunkt Etacquerel in the north to Widerstandsnest L ‘Oeiliere in the south. In the St Ouen’s Bay they constructed bomb proof gun positions inside the anti-tank wall and added Widerstandsneste and Stützpunkte behind the wall.
The Anti-Tank wall at st Ouens beach was defended by the Jägerstand bunkers together with Regelbau bunkers with anti-tank capabilities or open anti-tank positions with mobile guns. This mix of 10,5 cm and 4,7 cm guns was supported by Tobruk bunkers and six-shartenstand bunkers with machine guns, searchlights and mortars. There were barbed wire fences, mine fields and anti-tank obstacles.
This was the most heavily defended beach of Jersey during the Second World War.
