Wn. 51, Widerstandsnest 51 – Steps Punkt 43
The resistance point Step Punkt 43 lies in the middle sector of the St Ouen’s bay. Its name differs from other Widerstandsnest and Stützpunkt names which are usually connected to a local area or town. Back in the day there was none such name available in this sector therefore the German Army chose a combination of the height of a local hill and a stairs (steps) onto the beach which resulted in the name known today as: “Widerstandsnest Steps Punkt 43.
This resistance nest consists of a 6-Schartentürm WaKoFest type bunker for machine guns, a WaKoFest Jägerstand bunker for a 10,5 cm French Skoda gun, two WaKoFest Gruppenunterstand, a Regelbau 606 bunker with a searchlight garage and personnel shelter with an open searchlight position next to it. In the center at the carpark is the R 646 water supply bunker. Some smaller constructions can be found at the north side, a munitions bunker, Tobruk for machinegun and an open gun emplacement for a flare gun.
