1st Polish Armored Division

The 1st Polish Armored Division was a military unit formed in 1942 under the command of General Stanisław Maczek, composed mainly of Polish soldiers who had escaped German and Soviet occupation. Trained and equipped in the United Kingdom, the division fought alongside Allied forces during the Normandy Campaign, beginning in August 1944. It played a key role in the Falaise Pocket, helping to encircle and defeat German forces. The division continued through Belgium, the Netherlands, and into Germany. Known for discipline and effectiveness, it contributed significantly to Allied operations in Western Europe during World War II.
