M36B1 Tank Destroyer – 90 mm Gun Motor Carriage


Officially named 90 mm Gun Motor Carriage M36B1. A 90mm gun based on the Sherman M4A3 chassis, the M36 was based on the M10A1 Tank Destroyer chassis and the M36B2 on the M10 chassis. This gun was a counterpart of the Panther and Tiger tanks. There were 187 M36B1’s made. from October to December 1944 and they saw action in the European theater of war.

This 90 mm Gun Motor Carriage M36B1 was photographed in Zagan, Poland and is on display in front of the 11th Armoured Cavalry Division military base.
