The Tirpitz was a German battleship, sister ship to the Bismarck, and the largest warship in the Kriegsmarine during World War II. Stationed in Norway, it threatened Allied shipping in the North Atlantic. The ship was ultimately sunk by British bombers in 1944 after several failed attacks.
