The 76 mm field artillery gun was in service from 1942 until 1990. With its barrel length of 3.4 m it fired 76.2 mm shells up to 13.3 km. 25 rounds a minute could be fired by a trained crew of 7. 103,000 pieces of this gun were made. The Zis-3 gun was also used in the SU-76 Assault Gun, a combination of the Zis-3 gun and a T-70 light tank.
