Bunkers in Finland

During World War Two, Finland constructed an extensive network of bunkers and field fortifications to defend against the Soviet Union. Following the Winter War, Finland began building the Salpa Line, incorporating reinforced-concrete machine-gun and artillery bunkers, anti-tank obstacles, trenches, observation posts, and command positions. Existing defences were strengthened during the Continuation War, particularly along vulnerable routes and the Karelian Isthmus. Bunkers provided protected positions for weapons and troops, while trenches and obstacles slowed enemy advances.
