Bunker C60 is a combined anti-tank gun shelter and troop accommodation of the Salpa-asema or strongpoint, at Askola, in the Luumäki region of Finland. It is of the same type as bunker C59 on the south side of the road. The bunker is situated a little further back from the anti-tank obstacles and machine-gun bunker C12.
Several different bunker designs were constructed along the Salpa Line to provide permanent troop accommodation, depending on the number of men and the terrain. Standard designs typically accommodated between 20 to 40 men.
The wide entrance of bunker C60 offers shelter for an anti-tank gun, that could quickly be moved into firing position when needed. Because of its combined role, the bunker only provides room for 10 men. A tight staircase leads to a steel observation cupola model 1940 on top of the bunker.

Steel firing position 1342
A little further to the west of bunker C60 is steel firing position nr. 1342 fitted with a Soviet BT-5 tank turret. In 1944 dozens of these were added to the Salpa Line in the Luumäki area. They were commonly constructed using obsolete tank turrets on a steel base that was dug into the terrain and armed with a heavy machine gun or anti-tank gun.
A small network of trenches runs between the turret and bunker C60.

Bunker C60 is part of the Salpa-Asema or Strongpoint at Askola, Luumäki, Finland. It is located along the Lappeenrannantie road that runs parallel to Highway 6 between Lappeenranta and Kouvola. You can park your car along the road and a short walk into the forest will take you there.
