The AMC 35 was a French Medium tank from the late interwar period. It was designed in 1934 and constructed from 1935 by the Renault factories. AMC is an abbreviation of Automitrailleuse de Combat Renault modèle 1935, English: Renault model 1935 combat armored car. Also referred to as: Renault ACG-1. Its armor was 25 mm thick, which gave it limited protection in the field. Its main weapon was a short 37 mm SA gun and a 7.5 mm MAC 31 coaxial machine gun. Powered by a Renault 4-cylinder, 180 hp petrol engine, it had a top speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) and a range of 160 km (99 mi). The AMC 35 featured a two-man turret, improving combat efficiency compared to earlier French designs. However, mechanical reliability issues and limited production numbers (only around 57 built) restricted its impact, and it was soon outclassed by the more advanced German medium tanks like the Panzer III and Panzer IV.
